On Sundays, I like to share three things I have enjoyed in the past week. They could be anything; just stuff that has, as Marie Kondo might say, sparked joy. They also don’t have to be new or recent, so long as I’ve enjoyed them this week.
Thing 2: Artis Zoo Gives Southern Ground Hornbill the World’s First 3D-Printed Beak Prosthesis
This is a heartwarming story. First of all, it’s great to see 3D printing being used for things other than making terrible fidget toys to be sold on Etsy. Seeing it used to conservation work is really cool.
I wonder how resilient the bird’s prosthetic beak will be. I hope it lasts and doesn’t just result in the creature consuming a bunch of microplastics as bits are worn off. Fantastic progress, though!
Thing 2: Campaign Ad from Todd Achilles
Political ads can be dreary. They can also be funny. This one is hilarious. Independent candidate Todd Achilles is running for the Senate. Being independent in a firmly 2 party country like the United States means that he’s unlikely to succeed. I’m glad he ran, though, if only because he has given us this ad:
Is that not fantastic? It’s smart, it’s funny, it’s a bit condescending.
I love it.
Thing 3: Call of Cthulhu at Stirling Castle
I saw an advert for a Call of Cthulhu event being held at Stirling Castle at around the time that I was to be in Falkirk. It piqued my interest, so I decided to head along and see how it would shake out. I’ll be honest, I was a bit doubtful.

It was excellent.
I wrote up a review that, I will say up front, was effusive in its praise for the event. I was utterly delighted with the whole evening.
