On Sundays, I like to share three things I have enjoyed in the past week. They could be anything; just stuff that has, as Marie Kondo might say, sparked joy. They also don’t have to be new or recent, so long as I’ve enjoyed them this week.

Thing 1: David Lynch’s Dune Free to Watch on Youtube

Access may be different depending on geographic location, but for me, David Lynch’s 1984 movie, Dune, is currently free to watch on YouTube.

Look, the new Dune movies are fantastic, but I really think the original movie is a lot better than people give it credit for. I can’t embed it in this post due to age restrictions that require you to log in, so you can click here to head on over and watch it on YouTube.

Thing 2: Revisiting the Keynes Vs. Hayek Rap battle

Has it been 16 years. Oh, my. Keynes recently came up in a chat at work, and I just had to break out this absolute classic. Yes, it’s comedy, but it’s also bloody informative!

It’s so good. There’s a sequel that also good, and with better moustaches, but the original is still the best.

I remember my mum loving this, too. She was an ecomonist, and was pleasantly surprised at the combination of accuracy and rhythm at play.

Thing 3: Watch an Australian Waterhole

Look, hear me out.

There’s something just nice about passively watching the comings and goings around a desert waterhole in Watarrka National Park. Here’s a short clip from the project, run by ecologist Jennifer Davis:

From this, you can click through to the YouTube account wherein you’ll find a livestream and long videos that show huge stretches of observation.

This isthe sort of thing I might put on a second screen when working away on something else on the primary one.
