On Sundays, I like to share three things I have enjoyed in the past week. They could be anything; just stuff that has, as Marie Kondo might say, sparked joy. They also don’t have to be new or recent, so long as I’ve enjoyed them this week.
Thing 1: Young Ji Singing IVE’s Rebel Heart
This isn’t new, but it grabbed my attention. I do enjoy IVE, but I really like Young Ji. It’s great to see the two come together in this clip, which shows Young Ji covering a section of IVE’s song, Rebel Heart:
The original is, of course, excellent. That said, Young Ji’s performance, and her deeper voice, puts a different spin on the song. It sounds more defiant, which does fit the theme of the song. Fantastic!
Thing 2: An Orchard Where Chairs Grow On Trees
I had a bonsai tree for a while as a kid. I wasn’t especially committed to it, though the concept fascinated me. The ability to shape the tree was intriguing. The UK’s first furniture Orchard takes that concept to the next level:

Artists Alice and Gavin Munro are shaping trees as they grow, forming them into furniture using frames abd other techniques. It’s a fascinating concept and ai imagine that any piece bought from this orchard will be eye-wateringly expensive. It’s justified though, given the time commitment to grow each piece over the better part of a decade.
As a big fan of aged whisky, I can relate.
Thing 3: Jason Mantzoukas’ Love of Frieren
I love Jason Mantzoukas. I love Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. One video that brings the two together is going to make me a happy boy. I am, indeed, a happy boy:
I completely agree with everything he said. If you’re interested in my own thoughts about the show, I have reviewed the first season and mused about how to bring the Frieren vibe to the tabletop. I’ve also written a review of season 2, which I finished this week. It’s scheduled to be posted on NoRerolls in early July (currently the 4th, but this might change), as I work to build my buffer of posts back up.
